Things have been crazy around here lately. All of our plans seemed to change in just one week! We needed to get an appraisal on the land we want to buy and we realized it was worth less then what our neighbor's want to sell it for. Our options were to buy the land now and wait to build until we had some equity in the land. Or to buy a house now and buy the land later. After looking at houses for only a couple days we realized what a great time it is to buy and that we could find something we can comfortably get into right now. Saturday we looked at 4 houses and fell in love with one. Monday we found out it already had a couple offers in so we hurried and put our offer in. Monday night it was accepted and yesterday we signed a contract! We're buying a house!!!
We're bummed about the fact that we won't be living next door to my parents and that we won't be in the same ward. But, we are so excited about getting into a house now!
The Details: It was built in 2005, it has 2200 sq feet, 3 car garage, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, living room, large kitchen open to a family room, formal dining room, and laundry/flex room. (Which means a laundry room big enough for an office too.) We'll use it as a play room. It also has a big deck out back and a decent sized yard which is hard to find in a newer house. It's 5 minutes from my parents, 5 minutes from our church building, and only adds a couple minutes to Steve's commute. It's just perfect for us!
I can't believe it's really happening! My head is still spinning. I barely slept all last week. We plan to buy the land in 3-5 years and then take our time building. This house is big enough that we could stay there for 10 years if we want to. We'll keep you posted about the move in date and maybe post some pictures when we get in. We feel so blessed and at peace with our decision. Maybe I'll get some sleep this week!
