One Day We Will Look Back on This.....

This week has been an emotional roller coaster. Buying a house has been the most stressful thing we have ever done. We waited 2 1/2 years for Steve to get into Medical School. Moved across the Country. And Back. We've gone through many job searches, apartment searches, and have had 2 children. But, buying this house has been even more stressful then any of that!
Monday we finally got a straight answer from the seller's agent as to why it's been over two weeks and nothing has been happening. She said the sellers had not turned in their paperwork or returned her calls or emails in 2 weeks and that it looked like they were going to walk away from the deal. How can they do that you ask? They can not turn in their paperwork, have the bank close the file, and wait for their house to be foreclosed on. We would lose the house and the $8,000 tax credit. Our agent advised us to take a couple days to think about a dead date. The day we would walk away and look for another house. And the real kicker was our place is being rented out the middle of August so that would give us about 6 weeks to find another house. I cried a lot on Monday. Monday evening we find out the sellers decided to go though with the short sale and they turned in their paperwork. (You think they would have made that decision before they decided to put the house on the market?!?) So we're back on waiting for one final step. Second Approval. Wednesday we hit a mile stone: 90 days since we signed the contract. We sign an extension and finished our paperwork. No pressure. We just have to close by September 30th for the tax credit and there's no way it's going to take that long... right?!? Today we find out that they didn't pass the extension for the tax credit. Panic. We need to get approval, close on the house, and somehow get the sellers to move out before Wednesday!!! (Well we can give them three days after closing to move out.... Let's hope they do!) We have an appointment to sign our paperwork tomorrow. I'm praying for a miracle. Please close by Wednesday! Or maybe the government will pass the extension with another bill.... Today I feel depressed. I just want to hibernate for a month. Wake me up when it's all over. One day we will look back on this. But I don't think we will laugh.... we'll just be grateful it's over!
